The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Did you know that the tales of the headless horseman have been around since the Middle Ages? It’s not until the Washington Irving’s 1820 tale of the headless horseman made its return. It’s the classic tale of a headless horseman who terrorizes the real-life village of Sleepy Hollow. The tale is considered to be one of America’s first scary stories. Tales of the headless horseman stretch back as for as the Dutch and Irish legend of the “Dullahan” or “Gan Ceann,” a grim reaper like figure that carries his head.

Irving’s inspiration likely came from Sir Walker Scott’s 1796 “The Chase.” However, others believe his inspiration for the tale came from a real life Hessian solider who was decapitated during a battle by a cannon ball in 1776 around Halloween. He also may had drawn inspiration while visiting Tarrytown region as a teenager. None the less, the story is still pretty scary even though it was written long ago. It’s the kind of story that keeps you looking out your windows, especially if you live a small town.

The Dark Legend Of Bloody Mary

The legend of Bloody Mary is one of those spooky stories that most of us grew up with. It’s the tale that involves a malevolent spirit and a mirror, if you call her name out 3 times she supposedly appears and will scratch you, but how real is the story? There are few different versions of the story as well as its origin. Some trace the story back to the time where an evil Queen of England once ruled and would take baths in the blood of virgins thinking it would keep her young forever. Another story came out of a house in Ohio that was destroyed by the name of the Mudhouse mansion. The backstory behind that place is pretty creepy. Supposedly a witch by the name of Mary lived in the mansion for many years.

Bloody Mary, A Legend Or Something More?

Although the mirror story of Bloody Mary may be just a tall tale, spiritualists and paranormal investigators alike agree that mirrors can be portals to the other side. Could saying the name conjures up something very real, something that we don’t expect? No one really knows for sure, but we do know is the story of Bloody Mary will continue to be told during campfires and nighttime scary stories for years to come.

Could Werewolves Be Real?

In the late 16th century the town of Bedburg, Germany was viciously terrorized by a killer or what some say was a creature that would kill women, children, cattle, and pretty much anything that it could. It was the manner in which this person or creature did the killings that has still echoed this scary story throughout time. Bedburg is far from being the most haunted town in the world or full of scary ghosts and vengeful spirits, but it is the home of the Werewolf legend.

The legend stems around a wealthy man named Peter Stubbe, the man that many say was the werewolf and committed all the gruesome murders. Throughout the centuries there have been numerous accounts and reports of werewolves and creatures that are similar to them. Even in our time there are many stories in the Midwest and other regions of dog like human animals that mutilate animals and are seen under the full moon.

Could the stories be true?

One thing is for sure the story of the Bedburg werewolf is the probably the most freaky and gruesome story of them all. Many say that this killer could rival some of the most notorious movie killers of our time, and that he could be the most evil killer of any serial killer ever. The man or monster would not only kill his victims, he would rip them apart with freakish strength and even devour them after that. He would also sexual assault his female victims before he would eat them.

Now this isn't your case of a serial killer who would dismember bodies, this thing would literally rip them apart and eat what he wanted and leave the rest behind. Could this guy actually have been a werewolf?

Most Haunted Bridge In Indiana

Dog Face Bridge

It always seems that every state has a bridge with some kind of story, usually the story is of some type of tragedy. Indiana is no exception to that case, there are a ton of various bridges in the state that are supposedly haunted. But out of all the haunted bridges, this one tops the cake!

One of the legends say that a couple who was just married was headed to their honeymoon destination when they approached the bridge, there was a dog on the bridge and it caused them to swerve, crash, and die in the process.

However there are a few different versions of the story but they all lead to the same ending. It’s said that if you walk on the path that leads from the bridge that a woman with the head of a dog will come out and chase you, if she catches up to you she will kill you and eat you…. hmmm

The thing is that throughout the years supposedly people have found bodies out there, could this have just been a story though? No real proof of any bodies have been found out there, could it also be part of the story to make it even scarier?

The Haunted Troll Bridge

The Haunted Troll Bridge near Plymouth, Indiana is actually located in an area that’s known for some other creepy haunted places. One of those places is the Little Egypt Cemetery, the cemetery where some spooky things are said to happen after sundown. But if you venture down some way, you’ll run into a tiny bridge in the middle of nowhere. This is where the infamous troll is supposed to live. Legend has it, if you park your car on the bridge and get out, the troll will come out and chase you away. There have been a few variations of the story, yet no one has come with any real proof.

Most locals will say it’s only a story that was made to scare kids around campfires. Most small towns that are located in the middle of nowhere have similar stories, legends of creatures that live in swampy areas or under bridges. Could there be some truth to the story of the troll living under the bridge? Could it be something else that is under there that we don’t know about? Check out the video we found about this area.

Our Experience With Troll Bridge

When we went, we really didn’t see much of anything at all. We heard some things coming from the bottom of the bridge, but it was probably some type of animal. We did capture some pretty strange pictures that we have to track down and post when we get the chance. Some say they have been attacked by something on the bridge, some say the story has been twisted around because the sound of a Troll on a bridge sounds better than another ghost story. Honestly I think the story of Troll bridge was attached to the area because of some other very odd and creepy places that are verified haunted. This area has some old roads and houses that haven’t been touched in almost 100 years. So who knows what’s really going on in that area, one thing is for sure I wouldn’t want to be left alone at night around there.

The Green Children Of Woolpit

Sometime during the 12th century during the reign of King Stephen 2 children mysteriously showed up at Woolpit, a village in Suffolk, England. These kids weren’t like any other kids, they both had bright green skin and spoke a language no one else understood. They also only ate broad beans and didn’t like or even know how to eat anything else. Eventually, the brother died but the sister lived and learned English, she explained that they came from a subterranean world where everyone was green.

Could the story be true?

When we look at the planet as a whole, we think we know all there is to know about the entire planet. We think we know what’s on the top of every mountain, what’s inside the deepest caves, and what about our oceans? Scientists have said that just around 90 percent or more of the world’s oceans are yet to be explored, so what does that mean? Could there be subterranean worlds that we don’t even know about? Could there be civilizations out there that we have no idea about?
