Haunted Places In New Orleans

New Orleans, Louisiana isn’t a stranger when it comes to the paranormal. Other places focus on spirits and the paranormal during Halloween; however New Orleans sort of lives and breathes it. It’s been called the most-haunted city in America, so in a sense every day in New Orleans is Halloween or has a Halloween vibe to it.

There are creepy reminders everywhere of the afterlife, from above-ground graveyards, to creepy 18^th-century mansions that are surrounded with death, mystery and lore. There have also been some pretty scary things that have happened in the city like the Yellow Fever Epidemic in the mid 1800’s. Over 40,000 people lost their lives in the city alone during the epidemic.

The Most Haunted City In America

Some say many of those ghosts haven’t left the area and are left wandering around the city. New Orleans also has a very rich history in the occult and also in Voodoo. New Orleans is a city like no other; it’s creepy but also very cool. With so many haunted places and creepy stories, it’s hard to get turned around on what to do and what to see while there.

Jack The Ripper Walking Tour

Jack The Ripper is probably one of the most infamous and unidentified serial killers in the last 200 years. His terror reigned in a largely impoverished area around the Whitechapel district of London, England in the late 1800s.

Attacks always involved female prostitutes that worked in the slums area of the East End of London. He would slit their throats and then mutilate them in a gruesome matter. However, the way he removed the internal organs led investigators to believe he had surgical knowledge. He would repeat the same gruesome process and ultimately he was never caught.

Who Was Jack The Ripper?

No one really knows exactly who Jack The Ripper really was, however, there are many theories of who it could have possibly been. There were a lot of names being thrown out at the time, but nothing ever stuck. The name Jack The Ripper came from a letter that was found by the killer. Some say the letter was a hoax but the name stuck with the killer.

A Haunted Walk-Through

Japan’s infamous Aokigahara forest has a terrible reputation for being the location where people go to commit suicide. Since the early 1950s, there have been at least 10 to 30 suicides in this forest each year. In 2003 it was discovered that over 105 people had taken their lives in the forest leading to a disturbing record.

The Most Haunted Forest In The World

With so many deaths, Japanese spiritualist says that the loss of life has permeated Aokigahara’s trees, turning them into a sort of record of the past. Others say it’s created a void or an energy center that spirits and other entities now gravitate to. Whatever the case may be the place has a very creepy vibe behind it, even when watching it on videos.

There are so many deaths that have happened that there are signs that give positive encouragement to those looking to wander in to end it all. The signs tell people to think about their life and how precious of a gift it is, and how this will affect their parents and families. Even with those signs people still wander into the forest never to come out again.

This has led many to believe that the forest now harbors dark entities that are drawing people in. Could it be entities drawing depressed people to take their lives in the forest? Whatever the case may be, this place is one spot I would not like to be left alone.

A Haunted Walkthrough

The Gonjiam Psychiatric hospital has been called one of the most terrifying places in the world according to CNN. The South Korean facility already has had a very creepy reputation for being insanely haunted and for being a hotbed for paranormal activity.

There are legends of some rather mysterious deaths, and stories of insane doctors that were even crazier than the patients inside of the asylum. However not all the stories are true, and since the place is already a hotbed for the paranormal, it’s also surrounded by some spooky folklore.

There are a lot of theories on what caused the facility to up and shut down out of the blue. But what is known is that it was mainly due to the economic, sanitary, and sewage issues. What is also known is that the patients weren’t treated the best. There were a lot of reports of mistreatment and poor sanitary issues that lead to health problems in some of the patients.

Most Haunted Location In The World

Since its closing, there have been thousands of explorers making their way through the rusting facility. With so many people going through the location, there’s bound to be some stories of ghosts right? Well, there are some very frightening stories, so scary that the place was even used for a movie. Redwood National Forest

Some of us have been stuck indoors for weeks now and are itching to find a way out without actually going outside. Well today we found an awesome video of a virtual hike through one of the parks in the Redwood National Forest.  The forest is an 112,618 acre park in Northern California that has some of the tallest trees in the world. There are trees in the forest so big that you can actually drive your car through them.

There are what seem to be endless amounts of trails and things to do. During this pandemic, if you’re stuck in city somewhere, you probably don’t have the option to escape into the wilderness for a bit. Well today we found a really cool video of a walk-through in one of the many trails.

The Queen Mary

The Queen Mary is said to be one of the world’s most haunted ships and for some very good reasons. The ship’s maiden voyage happened on May 27, 1936, from Southampton, England. The ship was state of the art at the time and set a new benchmark in transatlantic travel. The Queen Mary was in commission until 1967 and became an even more popular location while docked in Southern California where it currently resides.

So why is it so haunted?

During WWII the luxury ship was transformed into a passenger ship for soldiers. The ship was dubbed the “Grey Ghost” because it was so fast and the stark color. It carried as many as 16,000 troops during the war and it also served as an on-board hospital. A lot of lives were lost and many of them were lost while on the ship. Many who have seen ghosts while visiting on the ship say they’ve seen the ghosts of soldiers and sailors.

The ship was eventually retrofitted back to its original state and then docked in Southern California. It was then transformed into an event center, hotel, and had frequent tours. That’s when the paranormal activity started to increase 10 fold. During Halloween the ship also has a pretty creepy haunted house.  Check out the video post we found of the creepy walk through and let us know if you would be brave enough to walk through its corridors at night.

The Horror and Shame of Pennsylvania

During it’s time in operation, Pennsylvania’s state funded school and hospital, Pennhurst Asylum was anything but a nice place. The asylum initially opened up in 1908 and it took almost 60 years for someone to bring to light what was really going on behind closed doors.

In the mid 1960’s a TV reporter by the name of Bill Baldini ran a series of episodes exposing what was really going on at Pennhurst. He showcased the huge amount of neglect and torture that most of the people faced while inside the complex.

Pictures and footage showed people strapped by their hands and feet to beds. Others where strapped to chairs while moving back in forth in pain and agony. The overcrowding was insane and there wasn’t anyone cleaning at all. Rooms were filled with human fecal matter and all sorts of horrible things.

Eventually the complex was closed and the horror stopped, well at least we thought it did. A couple decades later the complex was opened again to ghost hunters and a haunted house.  There have been numerous stories of some really insane paranormal activity going on within the fortress.

Dracula’s Castle

If you’ve ever wanted to see the “real” Dracula’s castle from the inside, this is your chance. However don’t expect to have a run-in with Dracula himself. Bram Stoker’s character, Dracula, a Transylvanian count that lived in a castle high up on a mountain was nothing but a story. Bram Stoker never even visited Romania, but heard a lot of stories of the location and was inspired by it.

Dracula was based on Vlad Tepes aka Vlad the Impaler, sometimes known as Vlad Dracul. Vlad was known for being insanely violent and evil to his prisoners and was also known as the blood prince. Vlad ruled the area from 1456-to 1476 and while loved by his people, he was hated and feared by many others.

Inside Dracula’s Castle

Even though the castle is now in ruins, you can still visit and take a creepy trip to get a glimpse of how it was way back then. The history behind it is insane and there are a ton of stories of ghosts and other creepy things going on within the castle and outside of it.
