El Diablo Restaurant – Where Your Food Is Cooked Over An Active Volcano

Lava Cooked Food

So we’ve taken to you places like the Vampire Café, Nox the restaurant where you eat in complete darkness. Now we are about to take you on a trip to a place like no other, literally. This restaurant is so hot it’s on fire, and we mean it.

Spain’s El Diablo Restaurant, located in Lanzarote’s Timanfaya National Park sits on an active volcano. The restaurant actually uses the volcano to cook your food. They had to lay 9 layers of basalt rock in order to build the foundation for the grill. The gigantic grill which is laid across the volcanic opening is  just 6 feet below  a pool of 400 degree bubbling lava.

RELATED

For those of you who are worried that it might explode, the last time the volcano was active in anyway was in 1824. But then again it could become active again at any time, but what are the chances of that? I still would be very wary about visiting, with my luck it would probably erupt. However the food is said to be insanely good. There’s something about the volcano and the temperature that cooks the food to near perfection.
