Neewollah Halloween Festival
Neewollah which is “Halloween” spelled backwards is the old and largest annual Halloween festival in Kansas. For over a 100 years, the Halloween festival is held in Independence Kansas. It’s filled with parades, vendors, theater productions, street performers, food, and more. It’s grown from a 1 day thing to a now nine-day festival.
The town of Independence goes from a little under 10,000 people to over 75,000 during the days of the festival. There are 3 parades, one for adults and children, another one kids, and then a Grand parade. The entire town takes part in the parade as well as other nearby towns and areas. Today Neewollah is the largest annual celebration in all of Kansas. It’s one of the biggest and best Halloween celebrations you can visit.
Not only do they have a big parade, they also have a large Halloween themed carnival. There’s also live bands and arts and crafts shows. Lets not forget about food, there are over 30 food vendors alone to keep you full. There’s also an array of different street performers and other types of vendors.
