For as long as many of can remember, there have always been groups that have argued that Halloween isn’t a real holiday, and that it’s just another commercialized day that benefits certain groups. It seems that this disturbing belief has been catching on in certain states. There are more and more organizations boycotting Halloween and it seems like New Jersey has picked up the pace.
According to reports, a petition was started by parents in a New Jersey district over schools participating in Halloween parades. The whole reason behind it is safety concerns. Each year the crows have gotten bigger, the problem is that there are a lot of people not following guidelines, and many who aren’t simply watching their kids.
So many parents are worried about their kid’s safety and brought it to the attention of the schools which took action on it. However there are A LOT of parents who are beyond mad at this decision. They don’t think it’s right to punish the kids and parents who LOVE Halloween and enjoy taking part of the festivities. A similar thing is happening in some Chicago schools, but this time it’s because some parents don’t think it should be celebrated because Halloween isn’t an all-inclusive holiday.
An Attack On Halloween?
This isn’t anything new, there are some districts in the south that are actually making it illegal for kids over the age of 13 to trick or treat. They could face jail time and hefty charges if they are caught.

Many are beyond mad that this is happening, and it seems like a growing trend. For those that think it’s just a commercialized holiday bent on spending money… What about all the other holidays?
I honestly don’t agree with this at all, I think they should have an alternative solution like an event that is held for those who WANT to go. For those who don’t want to go they simply can stay at home. Of first priority is the safety of our kids. However, if we keep up with things like this sooner or later kids won’t be allowed to have any fun at all.
