Nike Sues Maker Of “Satan Shoes” Over Trademark Infringement

The Evil Shoes

Nike is suing the rapper Lil Nas X for trademark infringement after his “Satan Shoes” caused a huge backlash on social media. The rapper who is a Satanist collaborated with “Old Town Road” singer on the shoes. There were 666 pairs of shoes made that showcased the Nike symbol on them. Nike asked that they permanently stop the orders of the shoes. This was after a large number of people threatened to boycott Nike over the shoes.

Since the announcement of the shoes, Nike has suffered a lot of backlash. Nike claims they don’t have a relationship with the rapper nor the product line that produced the shoes. Representatives of the company stated, “Nike did not design or release the shoes, and we do not endorse them.” The black and red Nike Air Max 97 sneakers also have a drop of human blood in the midsole.

This isn’t the first time the company that created these shoes have been in trouble. In 2019 they created the Jesus shoes that featured the Nike swish logo. Lil Nas X controversy began last week after his latest single “Montero ( Call Me By Your Name) came out last week. The video featured a demon and a fallen angel and a stripper. It will be interesting to see where this case goes next. There are a lot of designers taking shoes and creating their own versions.
